Open Chapter 7's skull door by pressing the first switch from the right, second from the right, first from the left, then second from the left. Inside the Skull Room, use the Sphere to reveal and press the skull under each patch of sunlight, then align the console's three coloured beams with the opposite wall. Clear the soldiers between each stage so their attacks do not interrupt the light clues.

Where the Skull Room appears

The Skull Door and Skull Room are part of Chapter 7, Death It Sowed, on the route through the Black Temple. They occur after the chapter's approach and battlefield sections, when the Trial becomes more focused on temple mechanisms. This guide covers the door, the chamber beyond it, and the final light console without revealing the later confrontation.

Bring the Sphere's light into each room and look for a clue before pressing a button. The skull puzzles are less about memorising a fixed image than noticing what Light Reveal and the daylight are directing you toward. If you enter the room after a fight, make sure no remaining enemy is forcing Sophia to move before reading the wall.

Skull Door: press the four switches in this order

The outer door has four switch pillars. Shine the Sphere's light on the door and look at the vertical rows of dots that appear. The number of dots tells you the press order, which resolves to the following sequence when viewed from the door:

  1. First switch from the right.
  2. Second switch from the right.
  3. First switch from the left.
  4. Second switch from the left.

Press one switch at a time and wait for the door mechanism to acknowledge it before moving on. If the sequence resets, start again from the first switch on the right; do not continue from the last successful pillar. The dot clue is still worth checking because it confirms your viewpoint if you arrived from a different angle.

Clear the first Skull Room encounter

Beyond the door is a large chamber with a pit in the middle and a sealed exit at the far end. Deal with the initial soldiers before treating the skulls as interactable targets. A clean room makes the sunlight patches and the glowing ring around the correct skull much easier to see.

Combat difficulty can be lowered if it prevents you from reaching the mechanism, and it does not affect trophy eligibility. The puzzle sequence itself remains unchanged, so switch back to observation once the room is safe. Do not waste time pressing every skull: only the skull marked by the Sphere's revealed ring advances the room.

First skull: start on the right

From the entrance, look to the right side of the room for sunlight falling onto the wall area. Raise the Sphere and shine it where the light lands. One skull gains a distinct glowing ring; interact with that skull to move the light to the opposite side of the chamber.

The ring is the confirmation, not the brightness of the skull alone. If you cannot see it, adjust Sophia's position until the Sphere illuminates the wall rather than the floor or the pit. Pressing a different skull does not solve the stage and makes the room feel more random than it is.

Second skull: follow the moved light

After the first skull reacts, the relevant sunlight shifts across the chamber. More enemies may arrive, so clear them before attempting to read the second wall. Go to the new illuminated side, use the Sphere again, and find the skull with the next glowing ring.

Pressing that second marked skull completes the wall-search portion of the puzzle. The main door remains the next objective, so walk back to the console rather than continuing to inspect the skull rows. The two skull interactions are a chain: each one moves the clue and prepares the final device.

Set the final skull console

At the far door, interact with the console and place the Sphere in the skull's mouth. Turn the device until its disc aligns above the green light point on the opposite side. This establishes the position from which the coloured beams can reach their correct wall targets.

Stand on the metal circle in front of the console, then direct the Sphere's red, green, and blue beams through the available mirrors. Align each colour with its matching mark on the opposite wall. When all three connections are correct at once, the door opens and the route through the Black Temple continues.

A reliable troubleshooting order

If the skull door will not open, begin with the rightmost pillar and repeat the four-switch sequence. If the inner room does not react, confirm that the initial enemy group is defeated and that you are standing beneath the correct patch of sunlight. If the final door stays shut, check the console disc's position over the green point before changing the mirror angles.

This order avoids the most common mistake: trying to solve the coloured beams while the console is not yet oriented correctly. Separate the room into three jobs—door order, glowing skulls, then colour alignment—and complete each job fully before moving to the next. The game provides a visible change in the room after every successful stage.

Chapter 7 collection reminder

Chapter 7 has one Blade, four Artefacts, and five Charms, plus Resonance Points that must remain part of the same continuing playthrough for Like a Warrior. The third Theseus Echo is nearby in the A Stage of Skulls section, to the right of a large locked green gate after the puzzle route, a drop, and two grappling swings. It is a Pierced Coin Charm from an Axe Chalice, not a chest item.

The Skull Room itself is main progression, but nearby detours can disappear behind an obvious exit. Use the Theseus Echoes guide for the full five-location route and the Resonance Points guide before leaving points for post-story cleanup. Normal Charms, Blades, and Artefacts can be recovered through Chapter Select; points cannot.

The Chapter 4 First Trial guide is useful if you want a refresher on the same Light Reveal reasoning before this later puzzle. Switch order, skull clues, and console behaviour were reviewed against the launch build on September 10, 2026.
